World Toilet Day, Bookfest & Christmas Lights

It's the 10th World Toilet Day tomorrow, 19 November to raise awareness that 40% or 2.6 Billion people in the world does not have adequate, safe and private sanitation. I certainly was not aware of how bad and sad the situation is and take the privilege for granted. Makes you think.

According to WaterAid, Diarrhoea still kills a child every 20 seconds. In fact, diarrhoea kills more children every year than AIDS, malaria and measles combined. It's a disgrace that this completely preventable crisis continues to blight the lives of billions worldwide. That's why, to mark World Toilet Day 2011, we will be launching our new global campaign, Water Works, on Friday 18 Nov.

Here is the link to see how you can do your bit and some fun ways to take part.

The 6th annual Bookfest kicks of today and will run at the Suntec Convention Centre until 27 November 2011. The theme this year is "One Book, One World" to broaden learning horizons and stay connected with today's audience.  So all you book fans get down there and enjoy.

It's 38 days to Christmas and yesterday I heard the first Christmas music played at Juncion 8. The annual Christmas Light-Up kicks off at 19h30 outside Ngee Ann City in Orchard Road. Back in the day this was something that also happened in Johannesburg but sadly no more. I remember driving with my parents to go and see the street light decorations. This sounds like it will be spectacular and not to be missed. Check out the photos and the video.
